U-Lock Mini Storage provides much needed space for Hospice Shoppe. In 2011, U-Lock Mini Storage donated a 10x25 heated drive up storage unit for the shop's Elders in Transition Program that assists seniors and their families around times of transition. Daphne Catterson, Manager of the thrift store, and Jeanne Fahlman, Development Officer at Hospice, are seen here with the Hospice Van in front of U-Lock premises. As the people at U-Lock stated at the time of the donation, "Recognition is great but ultimately, for us, it's all about the "feel good" factor." Thanks U-Lock for your generosity.

Provincial Gaming Supports Hospice - $100,000 annually
Nanaimo Hospice receives approximately 23% of our funding from gaming sources. These funds are used to, for the most part, pay for our staff who support our programs and services (everything from training volunteers, developing programs, providing direct services (such as counselling), providing infrastructure such a reception, bookkeeping, and so on - everything it takes to run an organization that provides free services in our community). We appreciate the support we receive through gaming and are pleased that these funds are, at least in part, returned to our community to assist those in need.
