Becoming a thrift store volunteer starts with completing the volunteer application form below, followed by an inteview with the Shoppe Coordinator. Once accepted as a volunteer you will be provided with some training in the Shoppe. All volunteers are required to read our Volunteer Policy documents, sign our confidentiality agreement, and apply for a criminal record check. See forms below to apply. | Gerry's Our Man!
Volunteer Gerry is like the energizer bunny - he never stops. When Gerry's wife was on the palliative care unit, he heard about the Hospice Shoppe from a volunteer and immediately agreed to help with set up. He now volunteers three days a week. A man of many talents, Gerry spends his time sorting, testing and repairing donated items and he drives the store van, generously donated by a friend of Hospice, John burke-Gaffney. Gerry delivers and/or picks up selected items sold online and helps out with tlarge loads and rips to the recycling depot.
Last year Gerry decided to take the Hospice volunteer traiining and now in addition to the Shoppe, he also volunteers with the Saturday morning Walking Group. The word "no"just isn't in Gerry's vocabulary as he responds to all requests with an amiable smile on his face. |
