I am the Program Coordinator at Nanaimo Community Hospice Society, where I coordinate grief support and wellness programs, support volunteers, and help connect individuals and families with hospice services. I also provide supervised grief counselling as part of my Master of Social Work practicum through Wilfrid Laurier University, where I am currently completing my final year.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Certificate in Addiction Studies, and a Certificate in End-of-Life Doula Care. Throughout my studies and work, I have developed a particular interest in grief, bereavement, meaning-making, end-of-life care, and how people adapt to significant life transitions and losses.
Before joining Nanaimo Community Hospice, I worked as a 911 Police Communicator, later managed the Sleep and Biological Rhythms Laboratory at Vancouver Island University, and was a stay at home parent to 4 children when they were young.
One of the things I value most about hospice work is the opportunity to walk alongside people as they navigate grief and loss. I believe that every person’s experience is unique, and I strive to create a welcoming, compassionate space where people can explore their experiences, connect with others, and find support that feels meaningful to them
